During our travels in Ireland and England inevitably we compared the places we had been, the hotels we had stayed in, the restaurants we had eaten at, and the activities we had done. From this discussion evolved a set of favourites. We thought it might be useful for a future traveler to these areas to hear about these, so for what they are worth, here they are:

 

Favourite Town

England - A three way tie -

                Indian Food - The Valley - Hexham, Northumberland

                Italian Food - Hebtons Pizzeria - Hebton Bridge, West Yorkshire

                English - Rules - Covent Garden, London

 

Favourite Hotel

 

Ireland - Knockranny Hotel, Westport, County Mayo

England - Marriott (yes, yes, I know!!), Durham, Northumberland

 

Favourite Activity

 

Ireland - Sheep Sheering Contest, Darby's Bar, County Mayo

England - Shakespeare at the Globe Theatre, London

 

Favourite People Place

 

Ireland - Grafton Street, Dublin

England - Covent Gardens, London
